George Crabtree

Professor of Physics, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, UIC

George Crabtree is Professor of Physics, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering at University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC), Director of the Joint Center for Energy Storage (JCESR) at Argonne National Laboratory, and founder of the UIC Summer Institute for Sustainability and Energy. His research interests include establishing next-generation electricity storage technology through a new research paradigm integrating discovery science, battery design, research prototyping and manufacturing collaboration in JCESR, and integrating energy science, technology, policy and societal decision-making through the UIC Summer Institute on Sustainability and Energy. He has led several workshops for the Department of Energy on energy science and technology, is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has testified before the U.S. Congress on the hydrogen economy, on meeting sustainable energy challenges, and on the prospects for next generation electrical energy storage.
